Ok, so, why aren't shelters marketing black dogs to the emo kids? It's a perfect match. Think of all the sad emo kids out there with golden retrievers shedding yellow hairs all over their goth wear and thereby adding to their owners angst and unfocused depression? A black dog will lift the spirits of an emo teen AND do so without hampering their Morticia Adams style.
If the shelter wants to sweeten the pot, they can offer a black eyeliner pencil with any black dog that's adopted and there will be a line of pouting 16-year olds out to the curb.
Good thing they have their poetry to help them pass the time in line.
