But I think he was probably listening to something before Elvis like Orson Wells' "War of the Worlds" broadcast in 1938.

aww he so sad.
The story was actually that he was listening to his dead master's voice on a recording....the original illustration actually had the dog sitting on a coffin. Morbid huh....they cut that part out pretty quick. ;)
