Listen. I took some time off this weekend and didn't make a video. If it's any consolation I felt very guilty about it. Usually I spend my Saturday nights in front of a computer, clicking through six-hundred kitten photos desperately resisting the urge to hit the "Delete Cute with Chris" button on my Typepad account and take up Crystal Meth addiction. This is the first Saturday night I actually managed to get out of the house. I'd been meaning to see this show for quite a while...
When your online persona gets overwhelming, deletion can become tempting. Just remember it's your thing and don't give a fuck about your audience.
I mean, you've got that down pretty good, but you should never feel pressured to formula yourself into a corner. If doing the show as often as you do is becoming a problem, do it half as often, or something, just tell people you feel like scaling back.
I consider deleting myself all the time, but then I remember how beneficial it is to me, carreer-wise, and I'm sure it's a similar situation for you, and it's also emotionally helpful (maybe in a sad way) to be a part of (or in your case, the epicenter of) an online community, because you know you can trick a bunch of people into giving a shit about your life, which is a good pickmeup.
Anyway. Deletion isn't the only option. There's also scaling back, downsizing, format changing, and committing to Internet less and live more. Just keep that as an option too.
Also, jesus your spam filter is impossible. LET ME POST. ARG.

I would not like to be the guy inside Big Bird! Hmm, Colty and Pervy on crystal meth, I can't imagine.

Glad to know you're getting out and having fun! All work and no play makes a drug-induced Chris!

Horray for having a weekend for once!

No, Chris, no! How dare you want a night out? I demand Puppies! And kittens. But mostly Puppies! Gimme! Don't make me hold my breath now, you know I will!
Seriously though, thank you for all the great work you do, putting a smile on our faces every week. We take you for granted at times, sorry about that.
Hugs & kisses, hope you had fun :)

I feel compelled to point out that Peter Jackson beat the "muppets doing naughty things" trend by about 15 years with "Meet the Feebles."
(Although, if one wants to get TRULY technical, the original Muppets were not intended to be for kids.)

Don't feel guilty. Looking at a picture of a bigbird catscan seeing that he has actually eaten a whole person, is almost as much fun as watching a new show. Relax, take it easy :)

Dear Chris,
Thank you so much for not posting a new show.
I have high school finals this week and need to study. It's good to not have the distraction that is your comedic genius.
Love,
Emily

I've never noticed... does Big Bird's right hand/wing/whateveryoucallit never move?

If you deleted your CWC account to take up a crystal meth addiction you would just have to re-create the account anyway becasue you would have WAY more time and energy to spend on looking at cute animals. and rummaging the internet in general...noooooo sleeeeeeping...... EVER!!

What? You have a personal life outside of puppies and kittens?! How can this be? Just because the rest of America gets a day off doesn't mean you do, too! Ok, well, maybe one day. . .even if it means that you will get NO SYMPATHY FROM ME come next "Feel Sorry for Yourself Day"; I'll be too busy feeling sorry for myself because you took a day off. I hope you're happy.
Oh and kudos to Emily, who not only is a teen who can spell, but she has excellent letter writing skills and manners.

Chris! It is very okay to have time to yourself.
How about just doing the show from a fun town in Southern California, called, Hermosa Beach!
You could sit on my porch watching the sunset - while doing the show and drinking a Molsen (Ha) or how about just not doing your show on Sat. night. What about like... I don't know. Tuesday.
Yah, for playing hookie! That's what we Californians do best! :-)

Carla, that's what I was just thinking! But doesn't he sometimes hug people? How does he do that? Hmmmm. The mystery.
Chris, we love you. You do what you have to do. And I hope someday you have enough money to buy a second shirt, because you seem to wear that bird shirt every freakin' day. ;-)

Don't worry about it Chris, it's a holiday. You're not being lazy, you're honoring our nation. Now go celebrate and go to a Memorial day sale.
Posted by: Karla | May 26, 2008 at 01:17 PM
Now that's dedication for you... not only does Chris a) feel horribly guilty for taking a day off from something he does in his spare time, without pay, but b) he tells us all about what he did instead.
Such is the commitment to blogdom!

'But doesn't he sometimes hug people? How does he do that? Hmmmm. The mystery.'
AJ, if that ain't his hand in there when he's hugging folks, then I don't want to know what IS in there...! :-O

im dissapointed, because CWC is the only thing keeping me out of trouble and off drugs, and it's hard to get throught Monday's (the stupidest day ever invented!, sorry my lord, but why the hell would u create such a stupid day that everyone hates!?)without it...and i would definatly die of depression (seriously) if u closed ur site, or never made another video...and im only 14!...but i REALLY DO appriciate everything u do, and all the hard work u put into this, ur constantly updating, ur amazing...even though im dissapointed there is no new video, i am glad to hear that u actually got time for urself, for once u were getting away from CWC...atleast until u met a member of our cult...u can NEVER escape from us!
