If you watched the latest episode of Cute with Chris, you know that Amanda is a viewer in MASSACHUSETTS who recently suffered deep disappointment when she got rejected from Art School. She has graciously submitted HER PORTFOLIO for the internet's brutal consideration.
What episode, what art school, What portfolio?

I don't about art school, costume design might be a better outlet for your talents. Imagine working on the costumes for LOTR? Interior design perhaps?

Unlike the cat lady, or the man who exposed his ball(s),it's really not that bad Amanda.I encourage you.

Posted by: gg | April 27, 2009 at 11:53 AM
It's not that bad. I agree with the poster who suggested costume design.

The only thing about submitting a portfolio to an Art school is you must show your talent in diffrent mediums. Most schools look for about 15 diffrent peices with certaint criteria like 1 land scape, 1 self portrate, 1 oil, 1 charchol. If you are tring to get into fashion school you still need to send in a portfolio showing the range of your skills. I don't know if amanda will ever see this but try revamping your portfolio and reappliying to the art school. There are also a number of state schools with good art programs... you can acctually get you BFA at Hawaii.

I went to RISD- after seeing those pics- i now know why she didn't get in-
only average talent- images show no originality...All your dreams are dead!

Melanie is right, though you could submit these type of drawings to certain schools that accept fashion portfolios such as F.I.T in NYC which is a really great school. But most schools are going to want an art portfolio. Hopefully you'll see this Amanda but im a student at parsons in NYC so if you have any questions about preparing a portfolio, etc don't hesitate to email me.

Amanda, you need to be in "fashion design"! Sign up for PROJECT RUNWAY, ASAP :)

don't sweat it. everyone only goes to art school for two years before dropping out and going to a real school anyway. *knows from experience*
Posted by: julie | April 27, 2009 at 01:16 PM

Plus, foxy foxy FOXY!
I mean, DAMN.

Only losers, only losers with no talent!

wow, please tell me those are just rough sketches for the real art. I'm sorry, but I can see why they rejected her.
YOU DON"T PUT DOODLES IN YOUR PORTFOLIO THAT COULD GET YOU INTO COLLEGE OR A JOB!
Posted by: Coleslayer | April 27, 2009 at 01:35 PM
They look like fashion design sketches, not "art".
Posted by: crow | April 27, 2009 at 01:45 PM
Yep, you could get into fashion design. Or get a better handling on human anatomy. Also try drawing some landscapes or rooms to show you know about perspective. When drawing a character you'd want to show a full rotation, and in a more dynamic pose, of it and add some more depth to the clothes on them.
Also to egyptchik, I HIGHLY doubt you were drawing clothes in that kind of detail in the 2nd grade. pffttt hater.
Posted by: Lunerrrrs | April 27, 2009 at 01:59 PM
did you draw that using your butt?
Posted by: ed | April 27, 2009 at 03:18 PM
Ok as one of Chris's three straight male fans I may not know about about fashion but those costumes look pretty good. If the art school look at these as drawings and not as designs then I can see why you did not get in(it's way better then I can do though) but eff art school, find a local seamstress/tailor and learn from them (if clothing is what you want to do).
